EUROPEAN ROADMAP FOR PROCESS AUTOMATION

An updated roadmap for future automation Research Development and Innovation within the European process industry is currently being developed. The idea with the roadmap is to highlight prioritized areas where Research Development and Innovation should be focused such that Europe also in the future will hold the position as the world leader in process automation and industry.

The strategic idea guiding ProcessIT.EU is to accelerate growth and automation technology development through a process of project incubation by bringing together plant owners from the selected industry segments, solution providers with a focus on automation technologies, researchers from university and research organisations, and public authorities focused on developing the selected industries.

The first roadmap was presented by the CEO of ProcessIT Innovations at IEEE ICIT conference in Cape Town 25th of Februari 2013. It has proved to be a powerful influencing tool to guide both European and national research agendas and also companies who want to get an overview of the current situation and trends in process, automation and digitalisation.

Currently the work with developing the roadmap is progressing and it is 80% complete. Experts from all the relevant fields are contacted and assigned with reviewing the material. The final draft is planned to be presented at 1st IEEE International Conference on Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems (ICPS 2018) to be held in beautiful Saint Petersburg, Russia, on May 15-18, 2018. This draft will be made available for public peer-review from this date until May 2018 on the ProcessIT.EU website.
