IUC Norrbotten extends its business area to both Norrbotten and Västerbotten. The company name is changed to IUC Norr (earlier IUC Norrbotten).
At the Annual General Meeting in June, decisions were made to offer more companies, municipalities and organizations to become a partner in IUC Norr. The purpose of the new issue is to create increased opportunities for targeted investments to develop the industry. This will further increase the commitment of IUC Norr's target group of small and medium-sized enterprises, major companies in the region and from the municipalities and industry organizations in the vicinity of businesses.
A regional industrial network is also under construction in northern Sweden - all in order to consolidate and strengthen industrial development in northern Sweden.
Supplier cooperation with the process industry in northern Sweden
In 2017, IUC Norrbotten has developed supplier cooperation with the process and base industry in northern Sweden. In total, four industry days have been organized in collaboration with the paper industry and mining industry, where supplier companies have the opportunity to meet the needs of the basic industry and participate in the dialogue on how we together increase the conditions for good business. The following actions have been taken as hosts: LKAB (Gällivare), Billerud Korsnäs (Kalix) SCA and KAPPA (Piteå) and CA (Umeå). More than 350 companies have participated.
Industrial Days have created a good dialogue between the base industry and its suppliers. We see it as a prerequisite for the region to maintain and increase its competitiveness in an international market. In the joint dialogue, we hope to find new business opportunities and new business models.
Working process to identify innovative solutions for the process industry
Work process to secure innovative supplier solutions to the basic industry as well as new offers. Billerud Korsnäs (Kalix), as well as the other large industry companies in the region, face a number of challenges to continue to be competitive in a global market. The introduction of new technology, digitization and the use of e.g. optical measurement technology is a way to improve and streamline process and production flow.During a meeting in September, affected staff from Billerud, who told and where in production they wanted to see improvements and streamlining, participated. The participating technology companies contributed to calls, with concrete advice, tips and ideas. During the day, a number of application areas were identified to continue working. Via optical measurement technology there are potential solutions for a number of the identified improvement areas.
